The Blog

This is a personal Blog with an academic focus in the areas of parametric modeling and performance-based-design. The goal is to create accessible content based on scientific and exploratory information. It aims to collaborate with the dissemination of knowledge in the area. Despite the previous statement, it is worth noting that the posts will have personal, and uncritical approaches.

The blog is managed by Natália Queiroz, an brazillian architect graduated in 2009. She has been working with researches in the area of building performance and bioclimatic solutions in architecture since 2007, when she started her scientific initiation activities. She has been using Grasshopper since 2013 and has also become an enthusiast of digital fabrication explored in her master's degree in 2015.

She is currently doing her PhD at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), as a researcher at Labcon-UFSC (Laboratory of Environmental Comfort) under the guidance of prof. Fernando Oscar Ruttkay Pereira Ph.D .. She is interested in the  integration of the architecture design process and  computer simulation. She have been exploring since thermal-energetic simulation, as well as simulation of natural lighting in the context of architecture associated with parametric modeling and optimization processes.

The blog is a personal initiative and is not linked to institutions. The content is also not restricted to building performance areas. The intention is to be as broad as possible within the scope of Architecture and Urbanism. We anticipate a volume of at least two posts per month and accept suggestions.

And the name of the Blog?
The name is the junction of the words "bug" and "architecture". The first refers to computer slang used to designate software errors. The term has its origin related to the problems that insects caused when they entered inside the big computers in the early days of computing. The term also refers to the plugin, and extensions available for Grasshopper (Rhinoceros 3D), which generally use insect names.

I hope the content is useful.

Att,

Natália Queiroz
